what our students say

FAQ’s

I'm very unfit. Can I still join?
Absolutely! Martial arts are for individuals of all fitness levels. Our classes are structured to allow you to progress at your own pace, building strength, flexibility, and endurance over time.
Every student begins at their own starting point, and we’re here to support and guide you on your journey to better fitness and skill.
What should I wear for my first class?
For your first class, wear comfortable workout clothing that allows for movement, such as a t-shirt and loose-fitting tracksuit bottoms or shorts. Please remove any jewellery and watches before class.
If you have items that can’t be removed, ensure they are adequately covered to prevent injury. As you continue with us, we’ll guide you on getting the appropriate uniform and gear.
How often should I attend classes to see progress?
We recommend attending classes at least 2-3 times a week for consistent progress. However, everyone’s schedule and learning pace is different. The key is regular practice and commitment.
Can training at Kung Fu Zone benefit my mental health and overall wellbeing?
Absolutely! Martial arts are as much about mental wellbeing as they are about physical training. Regular practice not only instills values like discipline, respect, patience, and focus but also promotes mental health by reducing stress, anxiety and enhancing self-esteem.
The skills and values you acquire can positively impact other areas of life, supporting both your mental and physical wellbeing.
How do you ensure safety during training?
Safety is paramount to us. All our instructors have first aid training, have undergone
enhanced DBS checks, and are trained in safeguarding. We teach techniques in a controlled environment, emphasising correct form, warm-ups, and cool-downs to minimise the risk of injuries.
During sparring or specific drills, protective gear is always used to ensure everyone’s safety.

Membership FAQ’s

Why is membership paid monthly instead of per class or term?
We run Kung Fu Zone as a year-round training programme focused on long-term development. Just like a gym membership, your monthly fee reserves your place in class and supports the full ecosystem: instruction, space, community events, and planning.
Spreading tuition across 12 months keeps your payments consistent and makes budgeting easier for everyone.
What does my membership include?
Your membership includes:
-
Unlimited weekly classes (across all available disciplines)
- Full access to our online training platform
-
Access to life skills seminars, competitions, camps, and community events throughout the year
How many weeks a year do you run classes?
We train 48 weeks per year, with a scheduled 4-week break in August. This time allows for rest, family time, and school maintenance—but tuition remains consistent across all 12 months as part of the annual programme.
Why is August still paid if there are no regular classes?
We’ve structured the membership as a yearly programme with payments spread evenly across 12 months. This means you don’t pay more during longer months or less during shorter ones—it’s all balanced. This model allows us to run sustainably and avoid large payment spikes or irregular pricing.
Can I pause or cancel my membership? What if I want to return later?
We ask all members to treat their plan as a year-round commitment, not something to pause for holidays or short breaks. Your membership secures your spot in class—if you cancel, your place will be released and may be given to someone on the waiting list. We simply ask for one month’s written notice if you need to end your membership.
You’re welcome to return later, but please note that spaces are limited, and rejoining will be subject to availability and require a rejoining fee.
Do you offer discounts for families?
Yes, we do offer family discounts. Just ask us for details and we’ll be happy to help.
You’re welcome to return later, but please note that spaces are limited, and rejoining will be subject to availability and require a rejoining fee.
