Martial Arts for Ages 5–6
Playful, structured martial arts classes in Islington that help young children listen, move confidently and enjoy learning with others.
EARLY YEARS
Learning Through Movement And Routine.

Ages 5–6 learn best through movement, repetition and positive encouragement. Our early-years martial arts classes in Islington use short, varied activities to build balance, coordination, listening and body awareness without placing pressure on young children.
Every class has a clear routine, simple instructions and achievable challenges. Children practise taking turns, following directions and trying again—skills that support confidence at school, at home and in new social situations.
What Happens In Class?
Sessions use short, varied blocks such as movement games, basic martial arts shapes, balance challenges and simple team activities. Repetition is disguised through play so children stay engaged while steadily improving control, memory and coordination.
Classes are warm, carefully structured and safety-led. Nervous children are given time to settle, energetic children are shown how to channel that energy, and progress is measured against each child’s own starting point—not against the rest of the group.
